The Thursday Thirteen – 07/27/2017

Here in Virginia, this week has been absolutely lovely in the weather department; cooler than the previous few weeks with a lovely light breeze. The milder weather has seriously put me in a Halloween planning mood. That may seem crazy to most of you. but for us here folks at The Historic Herndon Halloween House, it’s a pretty special time of year that requires a lot of planning, thought, and crafting. Last year, the theme was Whispering Tombstone Cove, which I think turned out to be absolutely fantastic, however, this year, the theme is going to be even better. Unfortunately, it requires me making a lot more tombstones for the graveyard, which involves me and a lot of paint. Things are bound to go hilariously wrong so stay tuned. Until then, here are a few things that I’ve been fixated on recently.

1

Crispy Beer Battered Avocado Tacos - How Sweet It Is

These Crispy Beer Battered Avocado Tacos from How Sweet It Is are killing me in the best way possible. I mean, come on, we’re talking about tempura battered avocados here.

Puff Pastry Cronuts with Buttermilk Glaze - Food, Folks and Fun

I’m not usually the type of gal who goes crazy over a donut, however, if you were to put one of these Puff Pastry Cronuts with Buttermilk Glaze from Food, Folks and Fun in front of me, that could all change rather quickly.

What’s your favorite summer movie? One of my all-time faves has always been Shag. If you haven’t seen it, you should really check it out. I’ve been watching this movie over and over again for years and I never grow tired of it. Fair warning though, this movie will make you totally dance around your house like a complete fool.

Tropical Kiwi Crumble - The Unlikely Baker

While on our recent beach trip, the subject came up of which dessert we preferred, a cobbler, crisp, or crumble. I’ve never been a huge cobbler fan, which is probably why I love the idea of this Tropical Kiwi Crumble from The Unlikely Baker.
