Now that I’m back in the kitchen and making a mess again, I’m in the mood to try something different. Brenna and I are looking for adventure, flavor, excitement, and perhaps a few mishaps along the way. B.O.B. Bob isn’t looking for anything, except for me to use some of the food in the freezer and the pantry before it goes bad. I would have included the fridge in that last sentence, except for the fact that it’s empty. Sigh. I don’t want to go grocery shopping.
I still have several candy eyes left in my baking supply drawer. Perhaps I’ll start eating these adorable Frozen Banana Penguins from Reading Confetti for breakfast.
The one thing not lacking in our fridge is eggs, and I even have a gigantic log of goat cheese in the freezer. Surely it’s a sign. Goat Cheese Quiche with Sweet Potato Crust from Farmgirl Gourmet is meant to be on our upcoming menu plan.
Thanks to my mom sending us a huge supply of sirloins for Christmas, we can easily make this Steak with Herb Sauce from Saveur.
We almost always have bacon in the freezer, because I’m insanely afraid of the world ending and not having at least six-pounds on hand. I think this Russet and Sweet Potato Salad with Bacon from Cinnamon-Spice & Everything Nice is worthy of at least a pound of my treasured pork fat.
We didn’t have as many trick-or-treaters as planned in October, which means we were left with over fifty full-size candy bars to deal with. Making these Peanut Butter Cup Crack Brownies from Culinary Couture will make B.O.B. Bob happy in so many ways; no more candy falling out of the freezer, and his favorite candy in his tummy.
Quinoa Parmesan Chicken from Damn Delicious gives me yet another way to utilize the mass amounts of quinoa I have stockpiled. What the hell was I thinking of when I purchased so much of the shit?
I am addicted to mac and cheese as of late. It’s a winter thing. So why not use all of my pasta and cheese to make this Irish Colcannon Mac and Cheese from The Candid Appetite? Heaven.
I want Strawberry Coffee Cake Muffins from Living Better Together. Do I have to give a reason why they should happen? All right, if I must. I have flour. It might spoil. You never know; it could happen.
We always have beer. That’s one thing we make room for in our house. There is no such thing as too much beer. I think B.O.B. Bob and I can spare a bit to make this Short Rib Black Bean Beer Chili from The Beeroness.
Roasted Orange Rainbow Salad with Asian Orange Vinaigrette from Healthy Nibbles & Bits is just the right recipe to help get rid of the several shriveled up oranges happening in the bottom drawer of our fridge. They really aren’t pretty, and their days are numbered.
Bacon. Again. No reason needed. It’s bacon. Bacon Wrapped Brown Sugar Pork Loin form Food52 is making me drool. Even Brenna would hang out in the kitchen for this.
Pretzels are a major food group, but it’s that time of year when they need to be fancied up. Football and shit. Y’all know I could care less about the game; I’m all about the snacks. Malted Pretzel Crunch from Parsley, Sage and Sweet will satisfy the fans and the foodies.
I have sprinkles. I have little children’s birthdays coming up. I have to make Softbatch Funfetti Sugar Cookies from Averie Cooks. I think I even have to make a few test batches first. You know, just to make sure they’re sprinkly enough.
