Choosing one flavor of ice cream is often difficult, but with this delicious ice cream, it doesn’t have to be. This frozen dessert is basically two ice creams in one; chocolate chip and Oreo cookie. Who doesn’t love it when chocolate chips and crushed Oreos are paired together? With this ice cream, no one’s forced to choose a favorite.
Lately, I’ve come to realize that I am not very good at choosing, especially when it comes to ice cream. Why do I have to pick just one little ol’ flavor? Why can’t I just have two yummy flavors combined in one scoop? I mean, seriously, I simply want one scoop of ice cream, without having to feel like I’ve missed out because I made a bad decision when choosing my flavor.
With this ice cream, that’s totally not an issue. It has two flavors in one; chocolate chip and Oreo cookie. Now, who doesn’t love that? There’s no more choosing. Well, unless of course, I have to make a decision on whether to serve it topped with hot fudge sauce or whipped cream. I can easily deal with that decision though. I choose both.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 Cups Whole Milk
- 3/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Vanilla
- 1/4 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1 Cup Miniature Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- 12 Oreo Cookies, Crumbled
Directions:
- Place the milk, sugar, vanilla, and salt in a blender. Blend for 3 minutes.
- Add the heavy whipping cream to the blender. Blend for 30 seconds.
- Pour the mixture into an ice cream machine and churn until ice cream consistency is reached.
- In a large bowl, fold the miniature chocolate chips and crumbled cookies into the ice cream until well combined.
- Spoon the ice cream into freezer-safe containers and store it in the freezer.
Suggestions:
- Blending the milk, sugar, vanilla, and salt in the blender for 3 minutes, ensures that the sugar and salt will be completely dissolved.
- Make sure to use miniature chocolate chips in this recipe. Normal-size chocolate chips just aren’t as good in ice cream. Save those for baking these Chocolate Chip Vanilla Cookies.
- Crush the Oreo cookies in a large resealable plastic bag with a meat mallet, rolling pin, or your hands.
- I suggest freezing this ice cream for at least 4 hours before serving it so that it is not too soft.
Improvements:
- Serve topped with hot fudge sauce.
- Try using different varieties of Oreo cookies in this recipe.
- Top with whipped cream and additional crushed Oreo cookies.
