Did you promise yourself that you would watch what you eat this year? Did you break that promise already? Why do we set such impossible goals for ourselves? When I think healthy food, I automatically think of soup. Sure there are some soups that have more calories and fat than a big steak dinner, but for the most part soup tends to be somewhat better for us than the foods we choose to eat on an average day. This also just so happens to be the time of year that is perfect for enjoying a big bowl of steaming yumminess. One of my New Year’s non-resolutions is to make a batch of soup at least every other week, so that I have something healthier to eat for lunch at work. I say non-resolution, because I refuse to let myself stress over whether or not I fulfill my promise to myself each week. Not only am I lazy, but I’m realistic. If I even make soup once a month I’ll be happy. Little steps sometimes make more of a difference than gigantic leaps. These soups have given me some great ideas to make my non-resolution a reality. The added bonus is that even B.O.B. Bob knows how to reheat a bowl of soup, which means I may have some help putting dinner on the table. I’m not holding my breath though.
