I finally took a moment for myself this week, a very selfish moment. I left work for a few hours to attend a Thanksgiving Pie Workshop at The Boutique Bakeshop in Herndon, VA. Just in case you’re worrying about me perhaps losing my job over this, don’t fret. I asked for the time off well in advance; I may have neglected to leave out the reasoning behind my absence however. There is an extreme likelihood that I will be perhaps taking future days off as well, because quite frankly I’m addicted. I love to bake, but I love to bake in someone else’s kitchen even more. It’s also nice to watch how others cook and bake as well, and to hear their advice, problems, and the reasoning behind why they are just as excited to attend cooking/baking classes as I am. Let me just admit right now, that as much as I love my dear sweet Brenna, that it was freakin’ amazing to be able to bake without her underfoot for a change. For my first time, I don’t think I could have asked for a better group of ladies to bake with, or a better instructor. Maria O’Rourke, our class teacher, was absolutely fabulous, attentive, and willing to share any knowledge she could with us that could possibly help us out in our own kitchens, and Amy, her assistant for the day, was just as helpful and entertaining. I’m totally ready for the next class. Wednesday, December 10th there will be a Holiday Treats by Adults class in the evening, and Tuesday, December 16th will be a Girls Night Out. I’ll be taking both classes, because I frankly can’t choose between which one I’m most excited about. If you want to try something different, and perhaps make a few treats for the holiday as well, please join me. I guarantee you’ll have a great time, and definitely learn something.
