Flavorful baked pork chops are only a few simple ingredients away. Crushed BBQ potato chips, salt, pepper, paprika, and a little bit of olive oil are all you need to turn ordinary bland boneless pork chops into something unforgettable.
There are two things I love in life; pork and potato chips. So, why not combine the two in a fairly simple recipe using boneless pork chops and crushed potato chips? These pork chops take a few minutes to assemble and very little time to bake, which means that you can get dinner on the table in practically no time at all. While they’re baking, you’ll have just enough time to steam some veggies, boil some pasta or rice, or even throw a sheet pan full of sliced potatoes into the oven to roast alongside the swoon-worthy crusted pork chops.
But wait one moment, there’s an added bonus to this recipe as well, you’ll finally have a use for all of those potato chip crumbs you have hanging out in your house. You know what I’m talking about. If your house is anything like ours, I’m willing to bet that there are probably four or five almost empty bags of potato chips hanging out on top of your fridge or in your pantry. The crumbs in each of those bags are probably way too broken up or tiny to eat, but they’re perfect to help add a crunchy crust to some yummy baked pork chops on a weeknight when your time is precious and everyone is absolutely starving.
If you want to be really daring, try combining all of those miscellaneous crumbs to create a truly unique crunchy crust packed with flavor. Experiment and see what flavors you most prefer. You can even throw in a few dried herbs that you think will work well with your experimental combination. In the end, it will give you just one more excuse to buy several different varieties of potato chips the next time you’re at the market. That’s if you need an excuse. Obviously, based on the amount of almost empty bags of potato chips on top of my fridge, I have no such problem. Either that or B.O.B. Bob is just way too lazy to throw away an almost empty bag of chips.
Ingredients:
- 4 Thick-Cut Boneless Pork Chops
- 1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Additional for Baking Sheet)
- Ground Sea Salt
- Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- Ground Paprika
- 2.5-oz BBQ Potato Chips, Finely Crushed
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Drizzle the pork chops with olive oil and then sprinkle them liberally with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Use your hands to rub the seasoning into the pork chops on both sides.
- Lightly crust both sides of each pork chop with crushed potato chips.
- Place the pork chops onto a foil-covered baking sheet lightly coated with olive oil.
- Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked all the way through.
Suggestions:
- Do not be afraid to season the pork chops liberally with salt, pepper, and paprika. If you don’t add enough seasoning, the pork chops will be bland.
- You can either crush the potato chips in a large sealed bag with a rolling pin or place them in a food processor until they are finely crushed.
- Baking time may vary depending on the thickness of your pork chops. Check on the pork chops every 5 minutes after 30 minutes of baking time.
Improvements:
- Try using sour cream and onion chips in lieu of barbecue-flavored chips in this recipe.
- Serve these pork chops with Homemade Spaetzle with Dill, Boiled Crusted Potatoes, or Creamy Mashed Cauliflower with Asiago and Parsley.
