Forget to buy a Halloween costume?  Trying to save some money during the Government Shutdown?  Don’t look any further than your own closet for the solution.  Here are a few ideas to help you out.

Add a red bandana to a pair of jeans and a denim shirt, and you’re all set to be Rosie the Riveter.  Extra points for red lipstick.

A robe, slippers, and towel wrapped around your head make the perfect Spa Princess costume.  Extra points for donning a facemask.

If you own an orange or pumpkin colored shirt, you’re all set to be Pumpkin Pi.  Extra points if you carry around a can of whipped cream.

Add felt or cardboard wings and eyes to a black ski cap to become a Black Bat.  Extra points if you go around singing Dada Dada Dada Dada Batman.

A little bit of tin foil and cardboard is all you need to create some unique Viking Gear.  Extra points for a sword, hammer, or battle-ax.

It’s easy to Monkey around if you own a brown sweatshirt; just add a felt belly and ears.  Extra points for eating bananas all night long.

Everyone has a Rainbow in his or her closet.  Extra points for making a pot of gold to go with it.

A red cardigan helps to create the perfect Mister Rogers look.  Extra points if you wear your wife or girlfriend’s red cardigan.

Own a pink skirt?  Add a tight fitting white t-shirt and tights to a pair of Ballerina flats to become the perfect dancing swan.  Extra points for putting your hair in a bun and wrapping ribbons around your ankles.

Add felt teeth, eyes, warts, and horns to a brightly colored sweatshirt to become the cutest Monster at the party.  Extra points for making monster feet to match.

Wrap yourself into a box to become God’s Greatest Gift to Women.  Extra points if you actually are God’s Greatest Gift to Women.

Take it back to grade school, when you were the cutest little paper bag Indian.  Extra points for a feathered headdress.

There’s always the traditional Toga.  Extra points if it comes undone half way through the night, giving people a glimpse of what’s underneath.

Break out that retro style dress or suit to transform into the perfect Mad Men couple.  Extra points for wearing pearls and a skinny tie.

If all else fails, and you have absolutely nothing in your closet to make into a costume, go as your favorite Pet.  Extra points if you walk around on all fours barking or meowing.
