It has been brought to my attention that I forgot to mention the outcome of the Eggland’s Best “Your Best Recipe” Contest, in which my recipe for Balsamic Deviled Eggs with Pancetta was entered. You all know that I was not the grand prizewinner, but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t win a prize. A box arrived on our doorstep one day, only to be placed in the garage by B.O.B. Bob. This is how things work in our house. He sees a package, and usually stows it away somewhere in the garage, and then days later he remembers it, and I finally get the package that I’ve been waiting days for. It’s not a big deal most times, because my packages are usually books, music, or cat medicine; nothing I’m in an absolute rush to receive. After this particular box had been in the garage for a few days, B.O.B. Bob brought it inside and left it for me to open. I looked at the label and had no idea of what was inside. The surprise on my face when I opened it must have been priceless. I wish B.O.B. Bob had been there to see it. Absolute happiness, and perhaps a little bit of pride. Eggland’s Best sent me a $25 gift card, an embroidered apron, an engraved wooden cutting board, and several kitchen utensils for being one of their Top 20 Finalists.
Would you ever have imagined that Eggland’s Best has their own mascot? Meet Eggy. Eggy now belongs to Brenna. It’s a strange relationship. Sometimes they play together, but usually Brenna chooses to ignore Eggy’s presence in our household.
Your eyes aren’t deceiving you; I received five coupons for a dozen Eggland’s Best Eggs. Guess what that means? That’s right, I’ll be experimenting with more deviled egg recipes, because the world is in desperate need of more deviled eggs at all times. Any ideas? Any requests? Remember, it’s my goal to one day publish a deviled egg cookbook. Yes, I know, my goals are simple. It doesn’t take much to make this girl happy. Point proven by the glee I experienced over this unanticipated prize package.
