I’m totally loving this weekend. Could it get any better? Why yes, I think it can. Here are just a few of the things that are brightening up my Sunday morning.
Going through and storing all of the spices I bought at Penzeys Spices yesterday. I went a little overboard, and can’t imagine what I would have come home with if B.O.B. Bob hadn’t been there with me. I’ll be giving away a bottle of Buttermilk Ranch Dressing and Dip Base to one lucky reader in the near future. It’s the only spice mix I allowed myself to purchase.
What Research Says About Cats: They’re Selfish, Unfeeling, Environmentally Harmful Creatures
“Still, if you need one more reason not to house an animal that doesn’t love you, manipulate your emotions to get food, and helps to eradicate endangered species, it’s a pretty damn good one.”
“Meanwhile, other experiments carried out by a pair of Japanese researchers have provided evidence for a fact already know to most cat owners: they can hear you calling their name, but just don’t really care.”
Union Market…Wow! Who knew such a place existed? Certainly not us, but we’ll definitely be visiting again when we have more time.
We got to really eat at our favorite pre-game hangout in D.C. last night, not just share a sandwich before rushing off to watch the Caps play. District ChopHouse & Brewery has the most amazing cornbread, and I think I almost fainted over the heavenly goodness of their Colorado Trout, which is a pan seared trout topped with crabmeat, green olives, and sauce Meuniere. My only complaint is that when you state that a dish is served with green olives, there should be more than one green olive. I’m making my own version of this, because I want more green olives damn it! P.S. Best mashed potatoes I’ve ever tasted! Poor B.O.B. Bob may be forced to make special trips to D.C. when I’m feeling unwell and only mashed potatoes will do.
Urban Honey! Who knew? I have to admit I’m a little bit intrigued by Capital Honey Co.
I’m finally in the mood to cook again today, it’s chilly, I want mac and cheese something fierce, and I have lots of cheese hanging out in the fridge. Dinner is going to be cheesy goodness.
