My idea of relaxation often means sitting in front of a computer or lying huddled up in bed with my laptop or iPad, reading food blogs or surfing Pinterest for recipe inspiration. Some blogs are all about the photography for me, while others interest me with their unique recipe ideas, and then there are those that reel me in with their witty writing style. I tend to steer clear of the sites that have a mass amount of followers, although there are a few that you’ll find me referencing quite frequently, because they do in fact have ideas that peak my interest, and I know that their recipes can usually be relied upon. Today however I’m celebrating those blogs that are perhaps less known by the average cook, that I follow on a normal basis, and look forward to reading each week. There are so many more that I enjoy as well, but these are the ones that pop to mind when asked who my favorite food bloggers are. I hope you’ll take a moment and check them out, and I hope that you will enjoy them as much as I do.
JJ Begonia
I love absolutely everything about this blog. Carlynn has some of the most unique recipes, which she always pairs with the most whimsical photography. I’m always overjoyed to see posts involving her sweet dog Sneaks, who is an adorable Westie whose cuteness makes me want to rush right out and adopt a dog, despite the fact that Brenna would never forgive me.
Pickled Watermelon Rind (Wrapped in Bacon)
Tall Clover Farm
Tom makes me jealous. I want his life. He lives in one of the most beautiful homes I’ve ever seen on Vashon Island, located in the middle of Puget Sound, with Gracie and Boz, his two heart-stealing English Bulldogs. His vibrant personality shines through in each of his posts, and his recipes literally make me drool.
The Beeroness
Beer. Baking. Beer. Cooking. Beer, beer, and more beer. Jackie’s blog makes me giddy, and thankful that B.O.B. Bob always has a unique selection of beer in the beer fridge located in our garage. Her cookbook will definitely be making an appearance on my Christmas Wish List this year.
Cherry Vanilla Pale Ale Party Cake
The Mountain Kitchen
This is a blog that I have just recently begun to follow. Debbie and her cat Ashes make me feel that I am not alone in this crazy world of food blogging. I thoroughly enjoy her encouraging comments on many of my posts, and look forward to seeing what she comes up with next. I also love getting a glimpse of her glorious mountains in much of her food photography.
My Name is Yeh
This one has it all folks. Great recipes, gorgeous photography, farm life, and writing that is a joy to read. Molly has truly captured the magic of what a food blog should be.
The Crepes of Wrath
Sydney’s blog captures glimpses of her life living in the big city, as well as her passion for food. Even though her posts are sometimes insanely long, I find myself reading them to the very end every time. You never know what she’s going to write about, but you’re always happy to have spent the time reading it, because it’s always entertaining.
Strawberry Oatmeal Cookie Cobbler
How Sweet It Is
Jessica makes me want to make every dish that she comes up with, even if it’s something that I know I won’t like. I absolutely adore her Currently Crushing On lists each week, which often help me find new recipes to revamp. Her cookbook is coming out on September 2nd, and I’ve already preordered my copy through Amazon.
